  • Lovely stuff, I'll be fixed too. I'm still scared of my road bike. Very much in, unless it's icy on the ground.

  • Ace! It will be my first proper ride. I'm still up for Amsterdam at some point next year too.

There's an Amsterdam plan? Awesome, I love the Netherlands.

  • Yarp. Watch this space!

  • Could you make the Southend ride as a topic so I can show it around?

  • You mean a new thread Ed?

  • sorry yes, thread.

Would be useful to have all the information on one thread.

  • 1 Poots
    2 Cazakstan
    3 IKHTW
    4 Cafewanda (weather dependent)
5 Shoosh - this so she gets her backside into gear
    6 Hats
    7 Katy
    8 Scoot
    9 pops
    10 betstacey
    11 Sally
    12 mands

  • No probs Ed...will do later when I'm at home.

  • Ended up taking a different route to Southend this weekend, so I won't be much help with the route above, but still up for coming!

  • I have got my weekends back finally and want to get my fitness back up after a lazy winter so I'm going to start doing some short rides (getting longer each week) leaving from Hackney. Only on my fixed as my road frame is being mended so not too many hills. I was aiming to start this weekend but the weather's pretty horrid so hopefully next... if anyone cares to join/knows any good routes (I never plan in advance) that would be ace!

  • Im not up to coming at the moment, but will be soon.

  • Ah the weather's not so bad today! I did a nice new-to-me 30 miler last weekend, Stansted Mountfitchet to Cambridge. Some rolling hills then fairly flat /gently down. Will post up when on a computer. If you can get groupsave on a supersaver ticket it's quite cheap.

the little tail where I crossed under the M25 to Wendens Ambo was a mistake. the turning off isn't very obvious (I was distracted by a temp road sign just at that moment) - the next bit running parallel to the M25 is kinda interesting though, you're mostly higher than it so get a good view, while on a pretty much deserted track/road.

  • Hi there. Am in Hackney and really want to start some long rides. Do not have fixed, but old 80's Ian May, he may not be high performance but he goes ok. Let me know of any Sunday rides, would love to join!

  • Thanks for the route hoefla! I ended up playing polo this weekend instead...oops.

Will do Lizzie. I'm hoping to get out next Sunday, haven't thought of a route yet but might just go North on the canal and then do a little Hertfordshire loop.

  • If anyone wants to head out from Camberwell-y area, even if just for Richmond laps, give us a shout!

  • I'm doing a repeat of ^^^^that ride, stansted mountfitchet to cambridge, tomorrow if anyone would like to join. Train out from liverpool st mid-late morning, hope to beat the afternoon rain.

  • I am taking a non-cyclist friend on her first ever long ride on Saturday if any of you would like to join, probably Cambridge but it might be Southend. Quiet routes both, super social pace, homemade flapjacks...

  • I could be up for this. You riding fixed?

  • I will be, my friend will be on a geared hybrid.

  • But how will she be riding a bike if she's a non-cyclist???

  • a bojo bike is a geared hybrid, yes? Of a sort.

  • I and the missus is keen to join, depend on the the weather thought.

  • Great news Ed, the more the merrier. I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast.

  • Weather on Saturday is similar to today, look like a win.
