Apparently it is a common attitude in the deaf community.
It's mixed bag, and those who objected are fucking cunts, luckily not as big as it sounded, like the idea that cycling is a dangerous activity that individual regularly have a near death experience everyday.
While the Deaf are bigoted child abusers. It's a lovely rational discussion topic.
That's oversimplifying it.
By the time a person can actively choose to have a cochlear implant, the brain is less capable of adapting to it.
That is true, but it's also mainly down to the person's commitment as well.
The school Bobbo's cousin went to should have taken action against those harassment, like my old school in Stoneleigh and Newbury did.

The oversimplification was completely intentional; those were the opposite ends of the opinion spectrum. The "bigoted child abusers" opinion is not exactly widely held, but pretty enough to find.
The truth of the situation as ever lies somewhere in the grey middle.

I had a dude do that at school on a school trip. Except he flushed it and it destroyed all the toilets in the boys.

I'm in a band called Black Branches, it seems that there is another band called Black Branches because we keep getting messages on Facebook saying things like "loved the show last night, your piano player and vocalist were very talented". We play mostly electronic harsh noise. Yesterday we got this wall post:
Suggestions for trolling a Canadian radio show?

^good call.
Agreed (with NH), but it all becomes much more complicated when you introduce deaf children into the mix. By the time a person can actively choose to have a cochlear implant, the brain is less capable of adapting to it. Some people who have them later in life choose to have them removed due to over-stimulation. By choosing not to have an implant for your child at an age when they can more easily adapt to it, you could be removing their chance of having any viable hearing.
