“Nacer has a deep wound in the lip and a hand trauma,” the race doctor told French television, according to ASO. “He’s staying with us until the end of the stage and then going to hospital for further checks.”
FDJ sport director Frank Pineau added: “there is nothing serious.”
Bouhanni won Monday’s 195km stage 1 in a field sprint and was awarded the yellow jersey. The race ends Sunday.
FDJ confirmed on Tuesday evening that Bouhanni had suffered two broken teeth and received eight stitches for cuts to his upper lip.
“X-rays revealed no fractures or even a cracked rib, as we feared. He will be back on his bike this weekend,” said team doctor Gérard Guillaume.
