Even road rims have lower PSI ratings than road tyres IIRC. So its a worthy question.
IRD cadence have been critised for saving weight by having thin braking surfaces, and therefore reduced longevity. Something that you need'nt worry about as a disc brake user. Cant remember how wide the new 'wide' cadenses are. But I seem to remember it not being a massive width.
