My first "official" 200km in the bag after today's Old Squit.
Treading in dog shit in the car park might have been an omen as I rode 150km of it without a front brake.
Other than that it was lovely: v. friendly, weather turned out nice and well fed at the controls!
Brought it home with a guy riding fixed: rep.

Great work Scilly, what happened to the front brakes? Bolt came off?

Thanks.
Yeah, I'm selling the group that was on there, so swapped out the derailleurs and callipers last night and obviously didn't do it up tight...
Signed up for a local 300 and 400: aiming for a SR, not decided on which 600 as I don't drive so need something local or with trains that fit in.

^^^Oh shit! Well done going round without! How was the weather?
-
• #1107
Thanks again.
It didn't rain, the wind was very light and on the stretch to the coast the sun was out and it was positively balmy!
Bit nippy either end of the ride, but you couldn't ask for more at the beginning of March.

Awesome, him and that Canadian guy who bagged the four French ascents in 24 hours are inspiring.

I also did the Old Squit ride at the weekend - it was lovely. I didn't ride fixed but was happy coming in just under 10 hours on my trusty old steel Hetchins. I finished at the same time as a chap on a fixed Condor, both of us just behind a man on his Brompton! He had apparently ridden a RRTY on it..

Paul Rozelle.
And he rode PBP in 80h just three days later. I think I saw him late on somewhere around Villaines-La-Juhel.
[EDIT] Yep, he left Fougeres after me and arrived at VLJ before me.

Really want to get back in to Audax's once my knees better.
No matter how much I move my position on the bike around and stretch it doesn't seem to go ffs.

Get a proper bike fit done.

If I could find somewhere I Norfolk I would.
May be worth a trip back to the docs as I think I may have torn something.

Yep that's him, I have his blog bookmarked to his ascent day, how do their knees hold up? Mine would explode.

Spence, this sort of thing is something that's worth doing even if the fitter live far away.
Or carry on with a higher chance of needing an operation in the future.

Yes I know chap - Think a visit to the doctor may be first call if they say my knees are mechanically fine then I know it's something with the bike fit.
At the moment the 4 miles to work and then the same again home is OK with my knee strapped.

There's a specialist place for Bike Fit in peterborough - not too bad on the train from Norfolk...

A friend of a friend has set up himself up doing maintenance and bike fits. He has a MTB background but I can hunt out his details if you want? Haven;t been so I don't know how good he is.

Hilly 50 this sat morning for those that feel like checking out Surrey's finest potholes.
Respectible start time makes riding out possible. I'll be there if I can swing it.

Good ride that. Sadly can't make it this year

Any other takers for the Shaftesbury Spring 200 (or any of the other rides) on Saturday?
Riding out for it from SE, so hope the weather behaves itself.

Just plotted out the route for the Invicta Grimpeur next weekend so though I'd post it here in case anybody else is doing it.
Lap 1 (anti-clockwise)
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3032544
Lap 2 (clockwise)
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3032870
Think I've got them right, but no promises about accuracy!
