  • it's alu.

tried that christianSpaceman, it's dead centred on both chain and seat stays.

You're right drØn - I'd not read the OP's properly

  • like I said, it's dead straight on one side (48x17) and off on the other (48x19)

My guess is that this means you've got a poorly dished wheel **and **a bent rear triangle. On the 48x17 side the dish is just enough to compensate for the asymmetry of the rear triangle and it ends up dead straight. The other (48x19) way round the dish and the wonky frame geometry both push it off in the same direction. So, check the dish of the wheel and do the string test?

  • If it takes ten people to figure out what might need to be measured to find out what might be wrong, it's probably best just to ride it until something breaks in an obvious way.

  • Does any one know if Shimano/Canpagnolo jockey wheels are compatible with SRAM road mechs?

Seems to be very few sets out there for SRAM in comparison.

  • Shimano ones work, but to be perfect you need to sleeve the 4mm bolt in the SRAM cage to fit the 5mm hole in Shimano spec jockey wheels. Plenty of people don't bother and get on fine.

  • Recently purchased a path frame so I'm building up a wet-weather (er, winter) bike. Brake drop on the front is pretty large and I would like to run 35mm tyres so I'm thinking about running cantilever brakes.

How much is it likely to cost to have a pair of bosses brazed on? Would a new fork be a better bet? Axle to crown is a fairly standard 400mm so finding a threaded 1" touring fork shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  • Nice one Tester.

Between 30-50£ last time I checked

  • going to fuck this up

This looks nice. Fuck it up good plz.

  • ^^^ does the guy riding the bike behind have haemorrhoids?

    no.

  • you can verify only by checking, not asking him

Gonna get swept risers (it's for my girlfriend)..

  • Amazing how people would go to removed pressure on their arse without lowering the saddle a bit.

  • So, check the dish of the wheel and do the string test

Will do. Thanks to everyone for the comments/discussion.

or by sniffing the saddle? iirc there was a saddle sniffer in the media, maybe he was a haemorrhoid researcher.

  • Complete with sciencer glasses.

A much cheaper option would be just to get a set of deep drop calipers.
You can find monsters up to 8 cm drop pretty easily.

  • ^^"Accepted" is past tense, what you need is the present imperative "accept".

  • not intended to start quote wars

    Too late.
