Spotter, that the VO rack? Is it axle mounted and does it come with the necessary pieces, or do you have fabricate your own?

It's just his crusing bike, he doesn't always want to be smashing it hell for leather around San Fran on one of his fixies!

Any reason for dual brakes with gearing if he's only "cruising"?

well id assume because its single speed

Anyone know how effective the rear brake cable is wrapped around the top tube like this? I've seen it a lot on Japanese builds.

An easy solution for a frame with no brake cable guides i guess

That makes sense.. Forgott about single speeds

It doesn´t look like a crusing bike. Front rack, totally trashed... I reckon it´s a work bike, but I don´t see the point of using that gear ratio.

I don't know if it comes with the VO racks, but it came with my Soma one.

Ever worked as a bike messenger in SF?
Obviously no. But if you´re saying it because of the hills in SF it would make more sense using a geared bike. Wouldn´t it?

More stuff to go wrong.
Single speed with a sensible ratio makes perfect sense as a work bike.

With SS you don't have to think about spinning down hills so picking a ratio is far easier. Why pick a big ratio to go up hills when you're just going to coast down them. So the sensible thing is to pick a nice spinny gear you get get up stuff on and not have a care in the world.

^This.
I'd always gear a SS lower than a fixed.
