  • I have a first world problem:

I've been offered a Tarmac SL3 frame at less-than-cost in my size, but this is still a sizable chunk of money.

To build it, I'd need to take the Record groupset off my beautiful 80's 735 frame. I don't really have a need for 2 roadbikes. I can't decide whether I should keep the classic 753 or to spend money and go for something super modern and race ready.

I'll never race, I'm totally a leisure road rider, and last year I only got to do around 400k on it, something I want to change this year, but still.

    ARGH what to doooo?!

10S carbon record on the Tarmac plus some silly wheels. Relax the pug a bit and turn it into an audax/randonneur bike - it'd look great with your carradice! You can keep the campag wheels and just put a non-carbon campag group to match. This also relieves the pressures to replace the heavyweight steel fork with something lighter (which would most definitely ruin half the appeal, which is the lovely paint).
