There are three main aero innovations on the Ridley frame, which I'm sure given Ridley's history have been in a tunnel at some point to validate the design ..
The F-Surface treatment paint job. Which reduces drag by allowing air to travel smoothly around the frame instead of creating turbulence
The F-Splitfork and similarly split seatstays. These reduce drag by drawing turbulent air away from the spokes.
The fully integrated F-Brakes cut off more drag compared to standard callipers.
I personally believe that some of the "fawning" for certain brands is a factor of the money pumped into those brands marketing .. Eg. the claim of 'tunnel tested'! Without a standard test specification, independently conducted testing and published data you can not truly compare brand A results with brand B results. A good marketing team can and will claim the favourable results from any in house test and ignore the unfavourable ones unless challenged.
