Has anyone successfully polished their shoes a shade darker?
Its pretty much standard tradition with brown and red toned (burgundy, ox-blood etc.) shoes to mix different shades of paste wax to highlight patina. Brown toned shoes are especially suited to this practice but a bit of black added to ox-blood does produce some great effects. Black shoes are comparatively boring with art limited to where to put the high gloss shine and where not.. but black is black.. and the old saying about the city is still more or less valid..
