I'm using Easy Battery Saver to good effect - just choose the default Intelligent mode - turns off mobile data and a whole bunch of other stuff until you pick the phone up again and it comes back up
if mobile data doesn't respond, flick flight mode on and off normally sorts it.
1 day 23 hours 41 mins 21 seconds on battery - still 57%
