A few Rapha observations.
I was passing the remodelled Rapha shop at Piccadilly Circus on Monday so popped in for a quick look around. It didn't seem much different to me to how it looked before, the coffee bar seems darker than before though.
I had a look at the Sky gear, not particularly stylish. The Merino Hoody seems to be the item most people are excited about, maybe it's 'technical' but it felt quite light and flimsy. They also had the same item in black and dark purple, no Sky branding, both looked way better, especially the purple.
I got a pair of softshell trousers at sale price, they seem to be made for tall skinny people like me, perfect fit, kept me dry in the sleet and very toasty. Unlike the hoody the material is substantial and feels like it will stand up to lots of riding. I'd recommend these.
I had a look at the baselayers too, the material on these felt wonderful and I can see why people rave about them. Nice but too pricey.

Anyone had issues with the overshoes? First pair fucked after 5 or so rides, replacement pair seam fraying already after just going out today. Not sure if I'll persevere. Although they do reek of quality, I like the pricy bit that covers the zip.

mine have been fine, but if they are problematic send them back for a repair/replacement

Does "liar" fit just the one testicle?

Maybe I'm just a an unfeasibly leaden-footed cunt but it does seem slightly ridiculous to sent two sets back in a such short space of time when one's previous cheap Planet X versions have lasted for ages. I could put the money towards a Team Sky belt.

Mine holed after a couple of rides, and while I like their products, I have been least satisfied with these.

My valentine got me a backpack!
I'm a bit fucking chuffed, to say the least :0)
I knew there was a reason I married her, all those years ago!

Ditto. They look and fit great. But they holed quickly and are not as warm as a £10 pair from Planet X.

My city 3/4' shorts have deteriorated in the gussett area. Will they repair/replace? I have only worn them for my commute everyday for the past 18 months...
-
• #11392
replace? Really?
What other clothing company would you expect to do that, after such a long time?I'm pretty sure they'll repair for you, though it may take a while..

Ah ok, cheers. Same problem, I'll swap for something else then.

Mine are fine, can't complain.

@ Cornelius: I was joking, like I say, I have worn them endlessly for 18 months. They have been great but just started to wear through around the edges of the reinforced gussett patch.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Having worn them for your commute every day for a year and a half, I would say that it's just normal wear and tear. Not sure what the "life expectancy" is, but if I shall be happy if I get a year out of mine.

@extra forte,
apologies for not getting the joke. I sometimes get a bit frustrated by the expectations of those that pay more than they think they should for Rapha who then expect to be treated like a cycling king and their every whim pandered too, when they wouldn't think of doing the same with Assos or similarly priced technical wear from a.n.other company..
Rapha have kind of made a rod for their own backs and too many punters take the piss in my mind...
but as you were.
