That ridden up Stelvio Pass by the the designer wasn't it?
to be fair i've been told by some lycra louts and guys i ride with that the stelvio pass isn't even that hard it's just long, pick a nice GI and you'll be fine.
Someone film themselves getting up alpe d'huez fixed and i'll be impressed

That's great but that doesn't mean we have to suck his dick about it. If he enjoys riding behind a car and top out at a ridiculous speed because he's limited by his fixiebiek he should do just that. But please don't make a video out of it because it will be boring to watch. It's a shit video about a shit accomplishment and that he enjoys doing it doesn't mean I have to watch the shit video and not be allowed express how shit it is.
That wasnt him climbing. That was a motorpacing video.

Hoping to do the Alpe fixed (up only!) this Summer, very low ratio needed, 39/25 on road bike so probably a couple of inches higher on fixed..... In fairness, it's only the bottom 3km and a 1km stretch towards the top that are utterly vicious, the rest is just very nasty!

mate you're clearly upset about something about him, if the video is so annoying to you why dont you just stop watching and move on with your life?
hes got views so clearly people do watch it, do you think I am commenting on fucking youtube videos on knitting or whatevs bragging about how boring and shit it is and how better it is to ride a bike? -

"...the Stelvio pass isn't even that hard it's just long, pick a nice GI and you'll be fine... getting up Alpe d'Huez fixed and I'll be impressed."
Just pick a nice gear ratio and you'll be fine ;-) In effect many pro climbers seem to ride it fixed or virtually fixed anyway; you certainly don't see them flicking through the gears...

Planning to do that too... including the descent, fixed and brakeless. One week in the Alps and one week in the Pyrenees respectively if everything pans out. Do you know when you'll be going?
I did Alpe d'Huez amongst other, tougher climbs when I was 15-16 years old on a multi-speed bike and never needed a ratio lower than 39/23 back then. Any idea what the pros are using these days?
/csb, is this the right thread?

I've been forced ride MTB on the road for these past few weeks until I get my replacement built fixed built up.

I'll hopefully be doing a little too, only a small bit mind and the 'easier' sections.

hes got views so clearly people do watch it, do you think I am commenting on fucking youtube videos on knitting or whatevs bragging about how boring and shit it is and how better it is to ride a bike?Actually I'm not annoyed with this dude at all, I'm of the opinion that people should do whatever the hell they want to do as long as they don't harm others, whether it be riding a fixiebiek up a mountain / behind a car or watch knitting videos. What does annoy me (and in fact something that's wrong with society in general but that's another discussion) is how a person doing something that's essentially just dumb is hailed as some kind of messiah.
If this seabase guy is having fun, more power to him. He did nothing that makes me want to deny him his fun. But people should seriously get off his cock. -

i think only people who would want to do the same are giving him props, which is fine?

How about the Galibier?
It's hard to think of anything worse than than descending the Lautaret side on the Galibier fixed. It's bad enough with two brakes and a freewheel.
... actually the descent of Croix de Fer would be worse now that I think about it.

i'm not sure what you commuting on your MTB has to do with people riding park/street on MTBs

yeah you go on about enough where are the pics?
To be fair that video is a bit shit.
Quite like the Stelvio one, even with his odd uncomfortable set-up and lack of brakes on the descent.
