there is actually, also many square builds with planters, often with a minute stretch of 'cycle lane' kerbside. the research shows they do nothing to reduce speeds as people race to get through a traffic signal- less location.
Bear in mind this is Poole though, responsible for the most successful out of town shopping centre in the centre of a town build ever constructed in Britain
