Ta! I'd like to see lots more 'psychogeography' of tagging, more empty spaces and places where things were.

However the half Moon is in the correct side of the river. -

However the half Moon is in the correct side of the river.
Indeed - will be passing by later.

Perhaps I can go for the record and get three tagzumps in a row.
-
• #11007
I doubt that you'd be tagzumped tonight, Will.

snapped axle..

Is it allowed to tag your own tag? I'm bored. I could use a different bike ...

Old, the site of a former pub which took its name, "The flying scud", from a play. THis play is the first known use of the phrase "to see a man about a dog". Hackney Road.

Good job 'Dan. Think the pub was named after a clipper called Flying Scud, as the pub had a sign depicting a ship. I used to pass it often (it was burned out and very spooky-looking) and wonder about what it's life was like. Then a while later, just around the time it was demolished (turn of the century I think), I read a little about it when someone on here posted links to 'Derelict London', a remarkable photographic and anecdotal record of the dying buildings and memories of London of old.

Love this place, Dan.
Can't get there till late sadly and imagine it'll be gone.

^^ On Flickr there's a sweet little write up by the (now much older) son of a previous family that ran it.. Mentions the Krays and all sorts..

• #11019
On where on flickr Pls?
-
• #11020
phew, i'm glad the new tag's been received well. As a newcomer to the game i was sure i'd do something wrong, especially as i've broken at least one of the original rules.
-
• #11021
Oh ffs, beaten again. I only took the photo half an hour ago! Oh well, there'll be another time.
-
• #11022
Skully, used to ride past the Flying Scud all the time, would always pass it, and think, god I'd love to renovate that pub, channeling my inner Kevin McCloud, and whenever I pass there now, can never quite remember where exactly it is. Probably because I was looking for the pub itself, rather than the whole where the pub used to be..
-
• #11023
Completely the wrong end of London for this today (if its where I think it is)
Whatok's clue is excellent.
-
• #11024
Come to think of it the flying scud may have gone a bit later than 2000.
-
• #11025
The Flying Scud was still there in a July 2009 conservation area appraisal that recommends it not being knocked down
Brilliant tag, brilliant clue. I have now acquired much useless knowledge about range of obscure things ... but it's dark, cold and the wrong side of the river.
