  • Chain set Definately isn't... It has Brampton pedals and I think that's the chain set too. Maybe the clip is Brampton? It has a 'A type 7 Hercules' 3speed hub, SA quadrant shifter, leatheries saddle and an unusual gallows seat post with what looks like 'PoP ' then a small 'a' underneath, engraved or stamped on....

  • My money's on that headset being Brampton...
Here's a shot of one that looks a reasonable match. A catalogue or pattern book would be worth seeking out to confirm...

  • Dragged this from a skip on the way home, (in the Netherlands). Anyone have any inkling as to vintage, spec', if it is a Concorde Colombus or not, and where to get info /pics for a resto?

    Photos here, (I hope).

    Thanks

  • Does anybody know of any double pedal straps that aren't made of leather?

  • I think nylon will be your only option.

  • I saw a steel bike earlier that looked a lot like my oldschool raleigh threespeed, except it had two top tubes! Not split, but one above the other. Anybody seen something like that? I have no idea what benefits that could give...

  • ^You mean this sort of business?

Typically used to beef up larger frames - e.g. the pashley sovereign has a double top tube on frames bigger than 24"
Also quite common on old freight/butcher/postie bikes etc where heavy loads are likely.

  • Yeah that's it! I'm surprised I've never seen one before. nice one

  • This design is still pretty common in the developing world. In China all the post bikes have them, as do the rickshaws and Flying Pigeon brand roadsters. I've seen a few in Africa too - I think the design originates with Old English heavy roadsters.
Here's a flying pigeon (A fantastic name if you ask me).

  • Anyone know this BB? Thought it might have been Mavic but I can't find a similar model nor any marking on the unit. Came out a '94 Look frame. Might be decent judging by the double adjustable cups, seals, cartridge bearings and circlips.

  • it actually does look very nice.

  • Saronni forks, flat so probably pista, made by Colnago in road form chiefly and a few pista for limited runs to cash on the Saronni name. Looks like not a Saronni frame though. Frame would say Saronni everywhere too

  • That's in a Cash Converters by the looks of things.. wish I knew which one... ha!

  • Saronni Colnago forks still ain't what you need

  • Ha. True. Very true....

    Any idea anyone?

They look like Norbert's work. Check this thread on WW, there's numerous similar wheels along with some other lightweight carbon treats.

I would say it is a Mavic BB - great when you have the thread gone in a frame.

That's what I thought at first, but it doesn't have tapered lock rings and it does have a thread.

  • Please help me identify this RIH frame. Want to restore it, but, hell, have no idea what it looked like before this ugly paintjob.

The chainstays and the fork are half-chromed.

  • i disassembled the headset, on the fork tube there are numbers 8044

  • ^8902 was built in 1975 according to this thread.
Plenty more info in there too.

  • Can anyone give me a hand finding more information about my bike. Its a martelly and thats all I know! I believe it was hand made in Belgium, yet it says made in Italy on part of the tubing. Im afraid the only pictures I have arent the best. Im struggling online to find any real information.

Thanks for the info, but as far as I know, the number on the BB shell is the year of production, which means, that the frame was made in 84, and it's serial number is 8044.

I'm trying to find out which model exactly this frame is. There were "RIH SPORT" frames, "SUPER COURSE" frames, and others with simple "RIH" decals. the last ones seem to be the latest ones, produced in the 80's.

    Anyone else can help?

P.S. the dropouts are Campy if it makes any sense

the frame could like like these originally:

  • What about this engraving/stamping on the bottom of a gallows seatpin from that clarion....

It sort of rings some bells.....?

  • Anyone know of a bar this shape (these are ritchey classic logic curves)
that are available in black. these only come polished
