What difference does that make?

There's a C of E church dedicated to St John the Baptist at Hoxton but I suspect the Hackney one may be a different St John. It's presumably linked to the Knights Templar (as in St John's Ambulance, St John of Jerusalem etc).

I checked that, but its own web-site notes that it was dedicated to St John the Baptist:
