If you head south, you'll find the M25 ridge, get over this and it can be pretty flat. Stick to B road and it'll be nice.
Come back over the ridge and you'll be downhill all the way home.
check out ridewithgps.com for making routes. It'll give you an elevation profile at the bottom so you can see how much it's going to hurt.
West of gatwick is generally flatter than east. But far West of gatwick and it's hill again - white downs.
If you go to my RWGPS profile http://ridewithgps.com/users/113414 you'll find some routes i do. Most are a bit longer, but will give you a starting point. For a qucik, in M25 route see the standard bedelstead loop, as done by dulwich paragon.
