^^^ I'd get in contact with them if I were you. It's clearly a design fault as it's happened on both sides and on more than one pair now, and they don't look completely worn out. Might end up with some free shoes out of it.

First run since Christmas last night. Wussed out and did it round the flat of the river rather than the intimidating hills round my new home. Really enjoyed it though.
Going to run the hills next weekend for sure. And the hilly 7 or so miles home from work is my next big challenge. NIce thing is, if I can't make it, first time i'll just pull up and get on a bus.

On a plan, but not on a schedule for an event. It's just to get me running ok distances fairly regularly.

Crap. I'd like to give these Inov-8 a try next time I need shoes as I read on this thread that a lot of people like them but this is not reassuring.

I have a pair of mudclaws that are lasting quite well. They are however not the most comfortable. They give me blisters after about 8 miles and no other shoes have done that to me. On the plus side, they are grippy as fuck and otherwise comfortable

8miles in the bin last night

8 miles last night- was supposed to be a rest day but ate too much sugar and was hypertastic.
9.5 this morning with a 10kg pack for the commute. 1:10 wasn't bad.On the note of trainers- asics gel enduro range are my current everything shoes. They're a little on the heavy side, but they're so good.
Probably not minimalist enough for you lot... -

My Orocs where a fecking blast last night.
Running through up to a foot of old snow, with areas of compacted snow, and some ice. Brilliant!
Pitch black.

Air clear and dry.
Perfect snow conditions.
Crazy undulating trail.
No one else in the area.

Finally got the contract for my promotion last night so went and had a couple beers with workmates instead of runninh home so switched 8k easy commute to a hard 10k on the treadmill - just over 40 minutes then 10 minutes on a rubber matt trying to look like I was stretching instead of dying!
Long run tomorrow then a mini taper towards dorney half marathon.
Just planning my home running sanctuary/man cave - any reccomendations for a treadmill? Lokking around 1500 gets a fairly decent one and would leave enough for a double glazed large shed in my budget. Need to work out how to get power to it and what kind of foundations are neccesary.
Thiniking treadmill, stretching mat, big tv and maybe a sofa, but the sofa is something that can come later!
Henry those speeds are mental.

From my experience- treadmills get less use than they're worth... You'd w
Always want to be outside, but my opinion is biased by how much I hate running on one as people can see you! When I run I feel less conspicuous.
Congratulations on promotion tho man- that's just ace.
I was a little surprised today. It was quicker than usual, just in a good place I guess mentally.
You Richmond-parking it this weekend? -

SmallFurry's lifestyle makes me a tad green: fat bikes; snow; wide open spaces.
Screw London. I'm a country boy forced to live in the city for work.

I just did a pedestrian 10k on a treadmill at lunchtime, for the first time in forever. Just reminded me of how much better it is to run outside, won't do it again in a hurry. I'd been toying with the idea of doing a treadmill mara this weekend for shits and giggles, but won't bother.
Don't get the point in owning a treadmill - there's no weather in this country which isn't running weather. It's a big outlay for summat you won't use much. Wouldn't mind a C2 rowing machine, but that's because I don't have a river in my garden.

Stop it. I just got confirmation my application for a 1.5 month special study module in Norway was unsuccessful. I don't need anymore reasons to be upset about it.

Marine biology, and boat engineering.
I always wanted to be a marine biologist when I was a kid. Was totally obsessed by sharks. Then I went and did two degrees in computer science instead. Not sure why. Then I became a journalist. Funny the way things work out. Boat engineering it is!

More advice please. Just went for a 10K run this morning, had a slightly different knee pain from normal (I'd noticed it felt odd yesterday too), now if I'm standing up my right knee cap seems to float entirely free of the joint. It's not painful at the moment, and seems to sit back into place when the knee is flexed/ sitting down, but I'm slightly worried.
Reading up on it suggests that it's probably not actually dislocated, and that RICE is the answer.
Edit - seems like the moment the leg is tensed it sits back into place, which is good I guess. Will take it carefully over the next couple of days

Either RICE or COR. I have a sore knee too and will take the latter option by doing a XC race.

10/22 today in New Forest, testing is one way of putting it, but thought Id share the organisers words:-
Lots of happy smiling faces at Anderwood today - the rain, snow and cold was not severe enough to dampen spirits. And it was a great turnout considering the weather. Well done to Kevin Bracher for putting on another great event with very enjoyable courses. And a big thank you to all the helpers who made the day possible.

Did my first 10 miler yesterday and managed to average 8 minute miles, which I was happy with. The groin is given me some serious grief today though so thats going to put me out for a couple days.
-

^I get a lot of groin problems and find that warming up a lot seems to be the only thing that stops it... and stretching a bit after. Doing that cross-leg yoga thing is quite good.
And on a similar note, did 8.7 miles in 64 mins earlier, my longest run yet. Chuffed it was under 7.5min/miles! Everything crossed it's not kicked off a groin problem for me....
Are you on a schedule for a particular event? If yes, maybe stay in the gym on the treadmill, considering the weather. If not, head out there and find out what your limits are, why not?
