I don't understand why people think they're only meant for untaped drop bars. Quill stems (torqued correctly) will rotate on impact, no matter what (any stems will) and so the wheel (which would strike the downtube first) will rest there while the underside of the stem ruins your mint track frame.
drunk-trackstand-toe-overlap-fail to prove the point. Was running Nitto Pearl and B260AA riser bars at the time, so very similar to JB's setup.
^reminds me I really need to replace the tape, as unlike the Kashimax, that's only good for one strike.
