"Oh Shit" moments...

  • I had drilled a hole in my Nitto handle bar for a brake cable. I've cycled with it for over a year, but it gave up yesterday when I was climbing the slope from the basement where my bike was stalled. Fortunately, I did not fall.

I'd dissuade anyone from drilling holes in handle bars....

  • Whilst attempting to trackstand today, I can't trackstand anyway and some wind came along, fucked my balance up and I couldn't get my foot out of the strap in time. Bruised ankle and pride, but nothing else luckily.

  • Just shit myself. It doesn't get much more oh shit than that :-(

  • I did not need to know that.

  • Wow.

  • ^^^ Really? Where are you? In the bath? On the bus? In the bath on the bus?

  • Had a real o shit moment about an hour ago. I was on old street just by the curtain road bit and the guy in front of stopped all of sudden which forced me to brake so hard I ended up going over the handlebars and the bike kind of landed on top of me whilst I stared up at the sky. I also manged to stop a foot before going into the back of a parked car. The local taxi drivers were actually really nice and helped me up.

  • ^^Long story really. Basically shoved ice cubes up my ass to soothe the pain after having the shits all day. Worked wonders in terms of easing the pain, leaving my rectum completely numb, and consequently I didn't make it to the loo in time...

Glad you didnt get hurt M1, Drilled STEMS are common, Ive drilled a couple myself and sometimes sheet ally is drilled to STOP a crack, but we live and learn.

  • ^^ Right, glad I asked. I was just about to do the same - for fun, no hurty bum me. I will leave it for another day I think.

  • We're all far to honest on this forum...

Well, yes... Welcome to cocking up engineers designs.

We spend all this time designing this on CAD and CAM for a pefect product for minimal weight and cost.

    And what happens?

Someone with a B&Q drill does daft things. :-(

If I ever meet you I am so much going to give you a slap!

    You bad, bad man you.

  • I got brushed by a big fook off coach yesterday. I was well out from the kerb and had my lights on even though there was still daylight. Yet the coach never slowed down or altered its path as it came up behind me. Actually made contact but not hard enough to knock me off.

    Bloody scary though.

    LOL

    You utter, utter bellend. hugs

  • Had an oil tanker attempt to pass me despite the pedestrian island in the middle of the road the other day, I had no where to go so had to start sprinting towards a driveway just ahead and get on the curb. I'm not sure if he didn't see me of was just being a twat, car behind kindly let me back out and proceeded to watch the wanker swerving around traffic forcing cars to take drastic manoeuvres to avoid being hit. I wish I got his reg because there is no way someone should be driving a petrol tanker in that manner through a city, ticking time bomb of death.

If it was a Shell tanker then it could be the same guy, whats the likelihood of it being tracked? I know the time and place just not the reg.

  • This morning was commuting in a suit on the beater fixed and forgot to do the old tuck the trousers into the socks trick. As I was going down a busy Queen's Gate my trouser leg got sucked into the chainring and ripped in half all the way up one side and across the back. Had to walk to the nearest clothes shop with suit trousers flapping behind me, got stung £80 for a new pair.

  • Premises with showers ftw.

  • ^^ Housemate did the same cycling in suit trousers. Said in the space of 0.5seconds his entire trousers were torn from his legs, so had to cycle home 2miles in just his jacket and underpants.

  • ^ Bloody hell, must of been cold if that was recently..

Not meaning to sound rude, but what were you expecting?

I had a friend who was going for his first day as a substitute teacher at a girls school. He borrowed my bike (a BMX) which was funny enough but the school was really far away. So he not only got really tired and sweaty by the time he got there but took a tumble as he tried to rush and tore his trousers and grazed his legs badly so they were bleeding.

So he ended up doing the teaching with his pants showing and blood oozing out of his legs.

Needless to say, he didnt work there for long.
