It's not nonsense (unless you have a critique of the maths, in which case bring it), and you can substitute whatever performance parameter you like in place of faster; obviously I'm a racer so faster=better, but Smallfurry wasn't prescriptive, he said all the pros and cons cancelled out regardless of which performance measure you use
