^^^ Tbh, if you're gonna get a mtb, you might as well go for a full sus rig that will be far more versatile over a greater variety of terrains, more bang for your buck, and more fun to boot.
Whereas an touring/audax bike would very much benefit from a custom frame, especially if you're planing on putting serious miles on it.
