  • Looking forward to seeing this one, Jammy.
Was initially intrigued why you chose them for a custom(ish) but after accquiring/riding the Supernaut recently, it makes a lot of sense now to choose Tonic Fab, especially for the taller rider. Assuming the CX has the same qualities, its such a stiff frame and gives a great ride.
Sounds like a great build as well, should be a winner then.

    rubs hands and awaits pics

  • so so nice...
    You decided on paint Andy?

Some kind of black and neon pink combo.

  • Yeah, I want a Tonic now.

  • I can't help but wonder if one of the three frames in the first photo is my Vanishing Point. Apparently the frame is finished but hasn't been painted yet. I was also thinking neon pink and black...

My bike is Di2-specific. I'll start a thread once I see the photos of the bike.

I know the bike! (It's Andy here from Tokyo Fixed)

  • Needs to be a Tonic owners club. Love my Supernaut.

  • At least it'll be backwards-compatible with new 11sp hydraulic Di2 ;)

  • Weeee. Stickers this weekend then it ships!
Wheels are built and read to go, and I've bought my shifters. Still a lot more I need though!

  • fork looks tapered but headtube doesnt?

  • fork looks tapered and headtube looks oversized?

    Legit inverse shimming.

  • Because the entire headtube is oversized so the tapering is inside the headtube instead of vice versa (says so earlier in the thread). Very cool btw!

Looks to be a very nice bike!

  • Tonic have quite a distinctive headset system where the upper bearing is a normal press-fit cup and the lower bearing is integrated, and they machine the inside of the bottom end of the headtube for that. In any case, you can have a headtube with consistent interior diameter and fit headset bearings with different steerer clamp diameters. That's the easier way to do it with steel, certainly. It's a big ol' headtube they use on the Magnum CX:

  • ^^ Beat me to it.

  • Like your explanation better.

  • Sram red cranks ordered gulp

    Still..cheaper than rotor.

  • My bike is ready and is getting shipped at the same time as yours ...
I sent you the monies for the paint job the other day too.

  • Mmmmmmmm

  • Wow, indeed. That's lush.

  • man sized bike

  • Oh dear, this is going to be very, very rad.

  • that is epic
