In my last email I said I'd look at options to reschedule the Willy Warmer for this weekend. It looks like the worst of the weather is behind us so having sorted out some administrative details it looks like we're good to go for 8am, Saturday, Jan 26th.
AUK regulations don't really allow for the rescheduling of Calendar events, so technically it’s now a "Snow Cancelled Perm". Basically, you ride the Calendar event route, collecting receipts and answers to info control questions as usual, then return the brevet card and “brevidence” to me, The major difference is that the Snow Perm is valid for one month from the date of the Calendar event, i.e., until Feb 18, incl. If you ride after Saturday, return the brevet and brevidence to me by post; my address is on the card. n.b., I have yet to confirm whether the Brevet will be recorded with the date of the calendar event or the actual ride date, so RRTYers, don't assume you can ride in February and have it count as a January ride.
If you're not available on Saturday and elect to ride another day, you can "sign-on" with a coffee at Halls Cafe/Patisserie in Chalfont St Peter (in the parade of shops by the Car Park/HSBC in the High Street. Halls is open from 7am, Mon-Sat; alas if you ride on a Sunday you'll have to settle for an ATM receipt. Either way, collect the Brevet from the LuLaBelle Cafe in Pangbourne which is now open every day, just ask for an "Audax Card" at the counter. LuLaBelle opens at 10am on Sundays; if you are early, knock on the door and they'll let you in. At Hungerford and on your Arrivee at Chalfont, collect receipts as for a regular unmanned control.
I've had a couple of enquiries from riders who did not enter the Calendar event who are interested in riding. Riders on Saturday can sign on at the Arrivee. To ride another day, enter using the DIY Perm directions on the AUK website by post or online (I'm the DIY Org for the SE Region). To enter online, if you need a DIY brevet go to https://www.aukweb.net/forms/diycards.php, then enter the DIY Perm using the entry form at https://www.aukweb.net/forms/entryformdiy.php (set the start point field to " WW Snow Perm" and leave the control fields blank)..
The WW had a record entry this year and I'm hoping many of you will be able to make it on Saturday, so the plan is to open the community centre "business as usual" (though I'll be looking for kitchen volunteers!).
PLEASE can you email me by reply to indicate whether you expect to ride on Saturday so I know how many to expect. Similarly if you plan to ride another day you MUST let me know by email beforehand.
Please let the first line of your email read ">>>WWSP DD-MMM where DD MMM is the day and month of your proposed ride.
anyone warming their willy this weekend?
