Losing a leg in a car accident is not funny nor should it be the subject of jokes. That said, I heard some well established comedian telling this joke on the radio a while ago:
The McCartneys' marriage broke up one Christmas when Paul handed Heather a prosthetic leg saying "This is not your main present; it's just a stocking filler.
If we can laugh at that, then perhaps we can laugh at Armstrong who is even more odious than the erstwhile Mrs McCartney and Paul put together.

Tell that to my brother's mate who lost his leg in a car accident. And for that matter all the other amputees who insist on doing practical jokes with their prostheses. It's not subjects which are immune to humour, but attitudes.

I'm quite chuffed to have offended Chugit, and I did say I had a chuckle at the article, but could see where others with a less macabre sense or humor wouldn't find it funny.
I would also like to add that it has always been funny to talk about the death of public figures. I have not seen a single person complain about this site:http://www.isthatcherdeadyet.co.uk/
Though it echos similar sentiments.

Back to Lance, this article is interesting - http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jan/21/lance-armstrong-oprah-pr-disaster It pretty much says that confessing has really not helped, and he should have just carried on lying. People who didn't trust him before still don't, and those that did now don't.
