I personally find that I pronate more in structured shoe for exactly this reason, on video all they do is let you pronate to a point then stop dead which looks painful.
I tend to go for shoes with little or no structure on the basis that people have been running for a long time without special shoes to fix them and seem to have survived, so I probably will too.
Having said that I seem to have hurt my feet running in a more minimalist shoe recently so need to take steps to stop landing quite so hard/scrunching my toes when I run.
