I bought the cranks and rear derailleur second hand, but the seller had a new front derailleur as well, so I got them $150AUD, the shifters were new from eBay. They were $260AUD + $30 postage. I got the cassette with the wheels and some brakes for $100AUD, but sold the brakes for $30.
I took it for a proper off-road ride this morning. The shifting is working fine now. I can shift through all the sprockets from both chain rings with out any rubbing. The front brake isn't squealing, but it's too "tappy", so I need to reduce the tension on the cable. The headset is rattling loose as well. I think it's too much tyre pressure and bumpy paths.
Other than that it's riding perfectly. I really like the SRAM shifting.
