    17g ≠ 1.7mm, so something is wrong.

    DT comp are indeed 1.8mm in the middle, 17g is 1.42mm. A 1.8mm wire is about 2.5 times stiffer in torsion than a 1.42mm wire. For a nipple friction which winds up a DT Comp by 45°, a 17g spoke will wind up about 112°. A 1.5mm DT Revolution will wind up 94°, since (1.8/1.5)^4 is 2.07
