Blockbuster goes into administration.
Like Comet, HMV, Woolworths and others, we're easily nostalgic and in reality all knew that it ended up being a bit shit and hoped it would admit the facts itself and give it up.
Horsemeat at Tesco.
The Tour de France was developed on the back of Paris Brest Paris, which is now an audax event completed by randonneurs. Randonneuring was originally used to describe endurance Horse riding.
Helicopter crash.
Much of the Tour de France is covered by footage from helicopters while Paul Sherwin reads from Wikipedia.
Am I the only one who think that Lance Armstrong is engaging in a complex, sophisticated campaign of burying bad news?
Also, anyone seen Didi Senft recently?

Sky reported the crane driver was late for work and that saved his life.
was thinking it was lucky he wasn't in it, when I first heard 2 fatalities on the radio, I assumed one was the crane driver, then thought maybe he didn't go up cos of the fog...

Thought this was the script from a EE 4GEE TV ad.

Blockbuster going bust is about as sad as jessops...
In case there is confusion, by that I mean: not sad at all.

Blockbuster closed their Mitcham store, where I foolishly had an account, and transfered my membership to Wimbledon, where the cost of getting the two of us there on the bus was more than a lovefilm membership.
I got a lovefilm membership.

Got woken by an email from my dad asking if I was alright, rushed down the road - less than a mile - tweeted some pics, then went to work. Then found out I was live-blogging it. Busy day so far.
E-mail @ 8.15 woke you up? Pffft.

Which the Wimbledon shop is closed down for a couple months already.

Anyone just see London Tonight about the poor chap who was killed by yesterdays helicopter crash, not the pilot the other guy. Report said he worked for Rentokill on the corner of Miles street and Wandsworth Road.
I live near here and have walked past that building 100's of times wondering what it is as it looks a particularly shady building, fenced off out back with no access, never seen anyone coming in or out, no signs up, all windows blacked out, plenty of roller shutters, and lots of huge fans/generators out back hinting at James Bond baddie style underground bunkers. I always thought it was some shady building connected to nearby MI6 so I did chuckle at Rentokill, I guess it sounds more reflective of their actual activities than Bond's old import and export excuse, but surely its not Rentokill is it? Cue scary conspiracy wackjob music. Anyone know more? Tell us more journo Sparky, get right on it. If I'm found dead tomorrow in mysterious circumstances you'll know why.

Yep, and tomorrow I'm getting up at 4.30am, and on Sunday I'm working until midnight. Easy life...
;)
As for Rentokil, it's a nice conspiracy theory, but probably just that. Who knows for sure? Not I.

I've always had my suspicious about the Keybridge 'BT' building too, on the other side of the tracks from the 'Rentokill' building. 'Communications' with 'rentokill' seem quite a descriptive cover! Poor poor guy though.
Edit: I think Sparky's right, Rentokill is based in the building next door to the shady one

This happened to me and my girlfriend last weekend. We were both drunk, outside the Birdcage.
They followed us in a blacked out car, repeatedly getting out of the car ahead of us and trying to intimidate us. We completely ignored them and kept on walking/drinking. Near the junction of Hackney road/Columbia road, they stopped alongside us, rolled down the window and started shouting at us again, and my girlfriend recalls that i couldn't bite my tongue any more:
"It's ok, i'll just go home and bang my boyfriend"
They went nuts, but by then we were on hackney road with loads of people and just continued walking.

They were talking about it on Reddit and some people were saying they didn't think it really happened.

do you remember about 8 years ago there was a lot of white paint on billboards and bus stop ads from Aldgate east around Stepney, anything with flesh, especially women. still happens on and off but I remember a spate of it suddenly happening a lot. ads with semi-nude guys and girls, but one that really stood out was a big billboard poster for some dance or theatre show, very civilised, woman in a green dress nothing revealing. then one day she was covered by white paint up to her neck.
