Looked in to doing the PPL course but as NH said, its really expensive. Its also quite hard to find work as a pilot, when I was working at cycle surgery (don't even) there was a chap with a commercial licence for two engine turbo props but he was from the states and couldn't afford to get the EU/UK licence, even then it would be difficult.
Also, airline pilots = sysadmin
