  • I thought they were all about 395mm A-C, that Kinesis is a touch long at 405 compared with most CX forks.

  • On-one have either 390mm or 400mm, I don't know which is correct.

Did you measure your out to be 395?

  • The difficulty is not finding the right length, it's finding the right width; all the cool CX kids are using tapered steerers these days.

  • Exactly. Only others I could find are these but I have know idea who they're made by and when I can get the Kenisis at trade + vat, it seems like the only logical choice. Nice that I can fit my mudguards to them as well I guess. Hopefully the extra 10mm won't mess with the handling too much.

love my pomp pound for pound the best bike on the planet
went to town with the build using stans alpha 340/Goldtec wheels,Schwalbe rocket rons pacestar tyres,King headset,18t White Industries ENO freewheel,TRP euroX magnesium canti's with salmon pads, Cane Creek levers & carbon crosstop levers,Shimano PRO carbon fork ,Planet X 44mm strada compact light triple butted bar, Easton cork bar tape Thomson stem,eXotic carbon seatpost,Selle Italia Flite XC ti saddle,FSA carbon pro crankset,Goldtec 38t chainring,YBN superlight hollow pin slot plate track chain,Look Quartz pedals.

The steerer tube has since been cut down a little as i was playing around with my bar height at the time but i would still rather see a tall steerer than a ugly rise stem !

  • Strong spec indeed. Would have loved to go all out like that when I built my pomp.

Couldn't agree more, especially on a bike with a sloping tt.

  • Just been havin a browse for some carbon forks for my Pompetamine and there seems to be sod all in the way of carbon disc forks round the 395 a-c mark. Since the UCI have allowed discs in cyclocross, I thought all the manufacturers would be all over this. Looking at these although they seem to be designed more for trekking. Anyone ridden them?

I'm going through the same process Chris.

Kinesis and most dealers (inc Wiggle) dont' have stock of those forks at the moment, so the choice is even smaller - they were my first choice too. Lynsksey do a set, as do PZ Racing (those ones are fugly becuase they have canti braze ons). Spot Brand also do them but Sideways (seem to be only UK stockists) don't have them - Tim emailed me yesterday saying no stock because they're being redesigned.

In short - limited options. Please let me know if you make any miraculous discoveries, because it's holding up my build ATM.

  • Are Wound-up too expensive?

  • Their pricing is a wind up.

  • I see. Also the likelyhood of finding a disc fork is slimmer than finding a track fork on this forum.

  • Sorry if this was asked before, but would be helpful.

dose any one know if 32c Conti hardshell will fit on a Pomp with full mudguards?

  • I've got 32c Marathon Plus on mine with full guards, if that's any help

  • is there much clearance still?

  • According to On-One, the new Pompino have bigger clearance.

  • bigger than they used to be you mean? i still got my frame from last year....

  • is there much clearance still?

Enough.. I set up my guards for 28c last winter and haven't adjusted. But the tightest bits are at the back of both guards where there's plenty of room for adjustment

  • Thanks, should be fine then

Yeah, I gotta wait till Feb for the Kenisis but I don't need em desperately. Hopefully the wife will get em for my birthday. £85 trade.

Trailerman, might be able to get by on these till Feb then sell on?

  • I didnt read the whole thread, but i always wondered if people actually knew that pompino means 'blowjob' in italian.

  • Old news.

  • google image pompino at work. I dare ya. I made that mistake :-(

  • sorry then,a si specified,i dint read the whole thread.wonder why they picked such name though.

  • Forks people: These look good.

  • You could email them and ask, they're nice folk from oop north somewhere horrible east of Sheffield.

  • Yeah searching for 'pompino' on craigslist.it doesn't give any results. Would have thought to get something at least.

Perhaps it isn't as big a problem.
