There was a fire at the Egg Stores a while ago and they still haven't reopened. I really hope they will. :(

If people wrote the location of an old tag once a new one had been put up then there wouldn't be this problem.
OK good suggestion. Yeah! to organising some way to delegate the work on the map.
The address from my tag up there^...^ . 9 - 11 Wardour Street W1F

How many reposts have there ever been? Three? Four? The map only helps if you have a tag in mind before you set off or can be bothered to check once you choose a tag. The map is a lovely thing but as a solution it is a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.

A bit shortsighted maybe? The problem that doesn't really exist is only going to get bigger, and the map is only going to become more important...
Plus you should be bothered to check.

I think the map's brilliant. I always check it before I upload a new tag or before I set out on finding something to tag.

The map has helped me avoid a couple of retags

Old: condemned tower block on Elephant Road
New:
Clue: this place is named for a man remembered only because of his much more famous father-in-law, who is himself commemorated not twenty yards away. It also contains a tribute to the popping of Britain's martial arts cherry, so to speak.

It's a non-problem. If someone re-tags then the game just continues, there is nothing lost. If people want to avoid it by checking the map then fine, they avoid re-tagging. If not then they have had a 'wasted' journey, or a bike ride, depending on how you look at it.

Have you ever made a retag by accident? It's not very satisfying, it can actually be quite infuriating. I'm not sure what you're trying to suggest.. should we just give up on the map altogether? It's worse than useless if it isn't up to date.

Apparently I am saying the same as you - if re-tags bother you then check. But for the game as a whole they don't really matter. And I said a day or two back that the map is useless if it is not complete and up to date. Though I have just had a random check and my Gay's The Word tag is not on the map so there may be a few more missing.
I still think a list would be better and easier to check though. -

I've been tagzumped which is frustrating but didn't bother me much. My last tag was a bit impromptu - I don't generally have an idea of what I am going to tag before I go. And I am not going to check on my phone, after dark, on Stamford Hill with an unlocked bike next to me. By the time I get home I might as well post it and if it is a retag someone will point it out and the game continues.

Damn indeed, sorry to hear about that.
