If you want to save money, I wouldn't bother with carbon steerer tubes for a winter bike. I've still got the same ITM Spider audax forks on my Racelight T that were fitted over 10 years ago. I just had a look, and the brake nut to pad measurement (to line up on Open Pros) looks to be in the region of 53mm.
Don't know what my brakes are, other than deep drop Shimano Super SLRs. R450 or something? Would've been the cheapest deep drop I could find at the time. I've used 28s under mudguards, but they came up more like a 26.

Mind you, that was for the 'T', before it was cool and everything, so might not be relevant for your thread.

I just noticed that those Blackstorm forks are for 49mm reach brakes :/ I would've thought they'd profile it to accommodate guards + 25s, otherwise it's a bit of a what's-the-fucking-point product.

Hardly. Two power meters and a mudguard now. As well as a new groupset and new wheels. Different pedals, saddle, post, bars, erm..

I think they will accommodate 25s and some sks guards - they are the forks that come as standard with the ribble audax/winter frame.
I don't really mind getting some long reach callipers - I'd just prefer to stick with what I've got. I think I'll probably jut order the frame and see if the back calliper will fit.

Interesting bit of cabling going on there Ved :)

You calling my mechanic a cunt?

Did Scherrit do that?!

Normal calipers on maxed out winter forks can be a pain. I had to file the slots on my veloce calipers on my enigma winter fork and they're still pretty much touching the 25c tyres on one side.

I think you'll be needing long reach callipers if you're going with guards or not. The frame itself will make a great all rounder. I'm using my new T2 as winter bike but now I've ridden it for a couple of months I can see me using it on the wet days through the summer as well as it makes for a great bike.
I've got a set of long reach shimano r650 on mine and the blocks are close to the limit of reach on the back.
The Kinesis DC07 forks are worth the extra also in my opinion if you can stretch to it - it's an alu steerer.
Good luck getting hold of a TK3 if that's what you go for as the lead time on these before Christmas was about 6 weeks and is ultimately what swayed me to go for the new T2.
I'd recommend a carbon post also. I've put a Fizik Cyrano on mine since this photo and swapped the stem for a Time Monolink carbon. Both changes have made for a less harsh ride.

Didn't want to create a new thread for Kinesis so bumping this one. Does anyone have any experience with the CrossPro 6 Disc? In October I am moving back home, 30 miles away from my work place and will need a solid commuter with discs and mudguards, the CrossPro looks pretty much perfect for my needs. I would buy the frameset though, not the complete bike.

This is my current T2 set up... However the frame (56) is too small so i'm looking to shift it in a few months and potentially get a Tripster.
^ Can't really work out what the difference is between the CrossPro and the Tripster? Bigger clearences on the cross?
Either way disc brakes is a must...
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Kinesis T2 frame as a do-it-all bike that I can use for training all year round, bit of light touring and as a winter bike. Anyone else own one of these?
I was also after some advice about calliper choice with these frames - I think I'm going to be pairing it up with a Blackstorm fork from Ribble. I'm on a budget and they're 50-60 quid cheaper than the Kinesis carbon forks - bad/good idea? I'd like to continue to use my 2008 Chorus callipers, which have a reach of 49mm - this should be fine for the fork, but will it be enough to reach at the back including guards?
N.B - I will probably never use a tyre over 25mm, even in winter.
