If both computers have USB3 then it's ok. Otherwise you'll be getting USB2 datarates (slower than firewire). Noone will be able to tell you which drive to get without knowing what ports the computers have. I am lucky enough not have to deal with this stuff and when I do I use G-Tech or Promise drives.
