I emailed them a couple of times, months ago... got nothing back. Track bike still taking up space in my living room :/

Last I heard the storage they had was full, although I don't know how they will reopen it again/allocate in the new year.

The person I dealt with re storage was VCL member, Tom Freke.
Not sure what the rules/etiquette are about posting people's contact details on the forum, but I'm sure if you ask another VCL member, they'll be able to help you get a message to him. Good luck! -

Thanks have emailed Tom a couple of weeks ago, hasn't responded yet but will check again when i go to the intermediate training next Saturday

I asked this question last year and iirc the allocation didn't kick off until March when the track re-opened.

I've sent an email, too. Nothing yet.
I read somewhere that HH is being run by Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome and not VCL this year, do I have my facts straight? -
• #10
I saw a tweet earlier today I think, saying that details would be available soon, once volunteers were found to run this.
It was today, from the @HerneHillVel account.

^^ Don't think the Friends are running the site, AFAIK it's still VCL. Friends help support events like Good Friday Meeting etc. though.

^^ Ah, cheers Andy!

After a year (or two? my memory is dreadful) of doing a very good job Tom no longer has the time to do it, or sadly ride the track much.
He's a member of Dulwich Paragon by the way, though we'd love to claim credit for his work.
The velodrome continues to be run by a committee of volunteers appointed by the VCL though some aren't VCL members. Most of the main user groups are represented and the Friends are heavily involved (and getting more so).

Cooky the new chair of the Friends is from the Crystal Palace Tri and participates in their Tuesday sessions, and many of the groups that use the track regularly are represented on the Friends Management Committee. This is my first year of participating on the Friends management committee myself.

I'd really love to arrange storage for this year as I want to race the league again but I never get any response from my emails to them. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd much appreciate it otherwise I won't be able to attend as it won't be logistically possible
Cheers

Are you on the waiting list?
-
• #17
I don't believe so. Not sure how I go about getting on it
I had a spot up until 2 years ago and gave it up thinking I could just get one again if needs be.
Not looking too hopeful though :( -

Apparently the people who are running the bike storage have only been in place for a few weeks, and are working through a backlog of requests (in their own time, obviously; they're volunteers). Sounds like we just need to sit tight, and give them time to catch up.
Anyone know whether it's possible to park at/near the track during the week? I can't remember whether it's residents' parking on weekdays. One option for me would be to drive there in the morning with track bike in the boot and road bike on the roof. I'd then jump on the road bike, ride to work, and then reverse the whole exercise in the evening...

no way you'll be able to park that close to HH station on a weekday. will defo be permit only.

Hey Mike, Ill be removing my bike from there soon as unlikely Ill be riding this year and its a bit unfair my bike taking up space. Not sure if you could just take my place or not.....
-
• #21
^^That's what I'm intending to do if I can. I've just been told by work that I can do flexi time on Wednesdays so I can rock up just before 10am when there's someone there.
I'm pretty sure that you only need a parking permit to park at the Herne Hill end of Burbage Road anyway but I don't fancy leaving my bike in the car on the street all day.

Really Tom you not going to be there, how come?
I've been so busy the last 2 years but I have to get back down there, even if it is for Wednesday nights as I miss it so much. I won't be anywhere near the level I used t be but I do want to compete -

I might do the odd Saturday, but I work too late for racing, and weve got another baby on its way, very soon, so cant see myself doing anything much outside work and home!
Good youre going back tho, I really miss it. -

Parking is controlled only between 12-2pm at the HH end of Burbage rd, the roads around the velodrome are fine.
Not possible to leave your car in the velodrome grounds whilst you're not actually there yourself. It is also not open to the public during the daytime on weekdays (usually very busy with school bookings, private bookings and holiday club).
Can you still do this? Sure I read somewhere ages ago you could
Looked on the VC Londres website, can't see anything
