  • Finished work on the 14th of December, and was 76.4kg.

Since then I've cycled 450 miles, and weighed 77.8 this morning.

  • Maybe do the opposite of what you are doing?

  • I am currently sitting on my arse, with a beer, having had a curry- I've probably lost 3kg already.

  • I somehow have managed to not put on any weight over christmas.....

I consumed a god awful amount of food since last sunday including hefty portions of fois gras every day.

    Still on 78kg

The dream of getting down to 75 continues

  • I've dropped a couple since before xmas.

    Kilos and turds.

  • I think you've given them to me hippy. Managed to pack on 5 pounds over the Xmas break. Mainly stilton, rum, port, and turkey. Win!

Will be back on the trail of sensible eating from New Year's day. On the plus side I have started running over the break although even this hasn't offset the mince pies.

  • I've dropped a couple since before xmas.

    Kilos and turds.

I know someone who had 5kg of turds in them.

    (they were american)

  • So, I'm not doing too bad.
Joined a gym in Nov and have been working heavily on my core, as well as general strength and conditioning. Maintaining a 77/78kg (176cm tall) weigh in but have lost 8% body fat (30% down to 22%).

Just had a short spell in hospital so the training has suffered a little, but am looking forward to getting back into the gym and seeing more results.

    Considering this...
    Any thoughts/opinions/wisdom/evangelists/neighsayers?

  • Want to loose half a stone in one week? Try Norovirus.
Haven't weighed myself yet, but confident it's doing wonders. Will accept cash for snogs, but please attach a recent pic in your PM.

  • Trying to eat a bit more healthily since the new year.

I'm going to try and remind myself that not buying coffees and cakes in the cafe at work will save me a ton of money too for an extra incentive.

I started a new job in Octobver and have been cycling to work semi regularly, only 10miles each way but it's a lot more than I was doing before. Also, new job is in a velodrome so cycling during after work on the track quite often plus using the gym a bit. I've not dropped any weight though - infact if anything I'm weighing more now - but definitely shedding some belly. Hopefully it's just the leg guns getting bigger heavier negating the belly loss.

Oh and new years resolution, I'm aff the beer. I'll still drink (spirits, cider maybe)but they call it a beer belly for a reason I figure. Plus, I seem to get foul hangovers from just a few strong beers these days, shared best part of a bottle of vodka with the missus at a party the other night and was fine the next day.

  • Definitely going to be having a fairly beer-free January. I managed to get a few gym sessions in over the period, but traditional steak pie (on the 1st then with the parents today), plus all the other over eating has me feeling like a massive bloater. A decent return to the gym and some lighter meals is something I'm craving as I sit here with the indigestion of over indulgence and feeling a cold coming on.

  • Measured myself at an unfavourable 14 stone 4 this morning. Only 5'9 so its time to shed some weight.
Gonna try not to eat between meals and ride my bike more. Aim to drop 2 stone asap, and build some muscle on the side.

  • Just over a week of my 2 months of Insanity left to go. Done pretty well despite xmas being in the way. Gonna do it again straight after I reckon as it's part of routine now. Hopefully the second time round I'll get more out of the workouts as opposed to just struggling to get to the end of them.
No weight loss but def in better shape and not much belly left to go. Overall fitness improved no end.
64kg today post exercise. Fairly chuffed with that.

  • 64kg! I always pictured you as a stout woodsman type.

  • I was 167.6 lbs on the 21st I'll post back on the 3rd when I go back (on the bike) to work. I reckon 175.

    176.4lbs

This morning was like a detox my sweat stunk of alcohol.

  • 77kg for me this morning.

Eating and drinking and running once over the break hasn't helped me at all.

Still with a ski trip at the end of jan to get fit for, and target of being booze free till then I hope to be back in some kind of shape.

Running to work this morning was hard!

  • I can't seem to get the hang of losing weight now that I'm active. I used to be pretty fat and lost it all effectively by managing my diet, but at the time I didn't do anything about my activity levels which were pretty sedentary. Now I ride and run and for some reason I can't get the balance right between calorie intake and expenditure - I either eat too much and gain weight regardless of my activity level, or I don't eat enough and end up bonking or being feeble during training.

The most frustrating thing is that I know the science behind weight loss / energy requirements isn't exactly complex and I should be able to JFDI. I really need to sort this out.

  • bothwell I have the same problem.

2013 I need to get serious, 2012 we moved back home with the in laws. My mileage went from 50 (just commuting) a week down to bugger all. I completely lost motivation to cycle (something which I think I'm getting over now) knee pain didn't help.

So things are now looking up we are in the process of buying a place at the moment which will result in a nice cycle or run to work each day. But I can start being healthy now.

  • To be fair your calorie requirements will vary shite loads more if you're running.

I am now quite fat. I've been on a mad high protein, high calorie diet. To gain upper body muscle through weight training, while still maintaining my usual running and cycling habits. Except I havent had much time to train for a month, and cant shake being a greedy cnut.

The positive thing to keep in mind. Is that once you have the base strength and fitness to make training both enjoyable, and a big calorie burner. Losing the odd bit of flab is pretty easy.

I did 10 hard offroad kms on newyears day, having not eaten all day, and nursing a slight hangover (so low blodd sugar I guess). A quick gorge on marzipan, and a packet of chewits in my back pocket kept me alive. It might have been a calorie neutral run. But it keeps me fit and strong for the next better planned run/gym sess.

  • hmmmm marzipan.

    Fecking homemade too. hmmmmmm.

  • Not really weight loss, but am trying to give myself a boost after xmas and have stopped drinking alcohol and hope to continue.

Am increasing intake of Avocados, beetroot, brown rice, walnuts, grapefruits, apples, oats, quinoa, oily fish, seeds and green tea.... long with all fruit and veg.

Hoping the lack of alcohol will help loose a few pounds ??

  • 64kg! I always pictured you as a stout woodsman type.

Ha! I was a bit stouter back in my tree days, but climbing all day makes you lose any excess weight pretty quickly. Groundsmen who spend all day dragging branches and hauling logs tend to be built like lorries but Climbers often look faily gaunt and scrawny(aside from the freakishly big forearms and triceps).
Lost plenty when I went to a more relaxed(but still physical) job, mostly off the shoulders and gut(bad cafe food).

Just downloading Zombies, Run! to get back into running on top of the plyo workout stuff. Shift pattern will change a little next week so will be back to riding 12mi a day as well. Win.

Edit: did 2x 5k runs with zombies this evening. Nice little radioplay to keep you entertained.

  • Hey guys, my friend does i Lipo laser treatment and asked me to spread the word. So I am!

Apparently you get strapped up and lay there for 20 minutes. The machine lasers the fat cells and reduces its volume. Afterwards, you do exercises and lose up to an inch a session. They measure you up before and after.

    Prices are £20 a session.

  • Ask him if he wants any Acai Berries I do good price yes?

  • Back on the wagon for me, albeit with very attainable goals. I need to be 82kg by April the 22nd for a competition and I weighed in today at 84. The slight problem is that I need to be the strongest/fittest 82kg I can be and I feel like a sack of shit at the moment.

Drew up a spreadsheet and the documenting begins. I'm thinking that I'm going to get back to training several times a week, monitor my weight and then adjust my diet 8-10 weeks before competition to make sure I make the weigh in.

Meh, the Christmas belly could've been a lot worse!
