  • on the ball as ever!

  • fuck its confusing

  • please switch off wifi when not at home...
...wifi will scan even if you have switched it off unless something something 2000m...

    WTF??

  • you should try on{x} then, much easier, honest...

  • ^^locale doesn't do "not" situations, so please switch on wifi when at home

  • on {x} ??

  • ^^locale only does positive situations, so please switch on wifi when at home
    did that

  • Ah, just had a look, it means it will turn wifi on periodically to check location when it should be defaulted to off, it won't connect to networks and it won't have much impact on battery life, so you can just ignore that

  • ah!!! cheers dude :-)

  • What other cool things can i set it up to do? Is there anything else?

  • mine turns my ringer off when i'm at uni, and at night if i'm at home. It also launches a music player and sets the media volume when i plug earphones in. Think it used to do more, but I stopped worrying so much about battery life when I got the nexus

  • good suggestions dude

  • Won't be encrypting then... Battery life is bad enough as it is.

  • Christmas Nexus 7 went down a storm. It's awesome.

  • I need some help with my Galaxy SII.

The battery dies very suddenly - it gets to about 45% then the phone just crashes.

Sometimes, if I leave it while, I can turn it back on and each time, the batter has been at varying degrees of charge ranging from no charge, where it shuts down again to about 30% and I get quite a few more hours out of it.

This is usually when I'm using Strava but it has also done it at least once when I was just texting and once when it's been sitting on stand-by.
My questions are: what is the problem and what do I do about it?

Please treat me like I'm an idiot so I understand. Thanks!

  • Sounds like your battery is knackered.
    Buy a new one.

I recommend Anker ('W' lol) batteries, they come with a slightly higher capacity than Samsung original, you can get 2 and an external battery charger thingy for about £15 on Amazon.

  • Or just get 2 normal sized replacement batteries, and one of those dual dock chargers, that charges the phone and has a separate slot for the spare battery to charge also. I'm about to do the same for my Galaxy S II within this coming week.

Be wary of some of the cheaper batteries as they are not of the same specification as the original.

  • Does anyone know if the USA version of the Nexus 7 is different to the UK in anyway? Thanks.

  • Different accent.

  • More likely to play cliff hangers and (global) crashes

Excellent - thank you both for the help!

  • it's probably been a year or so that some of you guys changed to giffgaff, so my questions are do you have any problems with the service and are there any cons or hidden extras in the tariff charges?
    thanks.

  • They had few (alot) of problems with their payment systems over the summer which was fucking up the auto renewal of the goody bags but since that got sorted been fine. ~~ I also never ever get a 3G connection anywhere but don't know if that's an HTC Sensation issue.~~ I'm an idiot it seems.

  • i was hoping you would reply.
never get 3g, isn't o2 supposed to be really good at that?

  • I set up a friend on Giffgaff, they mentioned the internet is very slow now, they used to be on O2. Haven't checked if that's an issue with 3g though.

Also price for unlimited data has gone up a couple of quid this year, so could a sign they will keep increasing the price.
