My preference would be a spot meter, Soligor (also available as Adorama and a few other names) are cheap and in my experience, pretty reliable and nice to use.
There are a couple iphone apps that emulate spot meters, Pinhole Assist is my fave but a pucker, stand alone meter would be miles better really.
