VU - sounds like shin splints, RICE will help, maybe try some compression socks or just leggings if that's a bit too much - they help to limit the vibration you experience, particylalrly as your a bigger chap (just guessing here but if you've lost 5 stone there is preumably a large frame to hang that much off!!) so there's more too vibrate!
Just did a loop including the first 8 miles of the marathon course. Its quite a long way before you hit cutty sark!
Will do it again tomorrow morning as I'm in blackheath for xmas - part of my mission to be familiar with the whole course - need to beat 3.15!
