TT levers look so much better than cross tops on bull horns

I much prefer having at least one crosstop, even when I have TT levers....looks pretty good too....

to stop the sliding dropouts 'rotating'...
On another note, just spent a few hours giving this old Benotto a full service for a friend. My god, was it in a bad state. So much crap in the hub and bb internals. Lovely bike, and runs smooth now, its only the 850 Italian Hi-Ten breed, but nice Campag, Maillard, and Cinelli parts throughout.
Opportunity to post this:
I have one just like that one, its a sweet ride! Would sell it for the world, even if she is just a humble Hi-tensille by nature!

Love the frame and where the build's heading but please, that seatpost is rank...
I bought a black one of these recently and it is pretty nice, and really cheap...

Thanks, it is only until you point it out that I noticed how truly gross the bbb seatpost is. Cheers for the links.

Back with the folks in Sweden over the holidays. My mom asked me if I could try and get dad back on his bike since it would do him good, get him out of the house etc. : )
I havent had a look at his old bike in about 10 years so I didnt know what to expect. And last I did I wasnt a fixie skidder/bike enthusiast :D But now rich on internet knowledge about stuff I was quite happy to find a really well kept although garage dusted motobecane with 531 reynolds, black dura ace brakes and weinmann tubulars. Couldn't get a good look at the drive train since the bike was behind a couple of other retired 70's rides but i'm hoping its either dura ace or at least french. Not sure if I have time for a era correct restauration since they tend to cost more than they are worth but will definitely clean it up and see if I the tubulars hold air etc.
these philippe bars are so ridiculously long in the drops it looks silly, almost like noodle bars but in drop bar form. -

2004 Z1 wedge... Think they have 130mm travel. They look pretty much brand new. Plush, smooth, coil and oil awesome.
-
• #70512
^ They'll probably last you forever :-)
Just change the oil once a year to keep em smooth.

Not ridden any of the latest forks on the market, I'm sure there have been great developments... I'm happy with these though. And yep, hopefully last forever.

^^ I too joined the LFGMTBForum last weekend - found this under a pile of frames at the back of the shed. Bit of air in the tyres and she was good to go.
(Excuse the lame photos)

^ It's an American Cycles custom True-Temper steel frame called the World Force. AC later sold the design to Azonic who produced it in Aluminium - they also called it the World force.
It's quite funny to have a steel frame with 8" of travel at the back but cantilever bosses and braze on cable guides for a front mech.... The pivots are all plain bronze bearings with big brass grease ports screwed in. The suspension works well if you ride very aggressively and pedal hard into things.... -

^ Yes, there's a guy on retrobike who has one that he's done a proper job to!
I bought mine in '99 - after I trashed a dirt jumping/free-riding biek.
I was skint at the time so I just transferred everythihg across, except the '99 Z1's which were state of the art at the time!!! -
• #70523
Yeah I remember lusting after some Z1s... and some Magura brakes. At the time I was running Manitou SX-R forks and XT V's.
-
• #70524
I upgraded from 500LX to those Magura HS33's in '97 when I lived near the alps - I seriously rate Magura the hard pads last forever and if you set them up decently and bleed them once in a while, they're pretty much maintenance free - you need the quick release adaptors to get the wheels off.
(The titanium brace was from a guy at Mercedes F1 who was running a crafty side business on their their CNC mill). -

^Oof. (I used to work at MTC) Facilities were second to none. (Mercedes funded)
