  • ^^^ I have the kinetic computer that's calibrated to give me power readings on my trainer, so when turbo'ing, I'm too busy staring at watts, heart-trate, cadence, speed etc to get bored. Actually seeing progress is definitely a great motivator!

  • ^ Not talking about sex this time :-)

  • What's the price of wired powertap wheel? If, you know, one might want to investigate further?
I'm fairly certain they're amazing. I'm fairly certain a powertap wheel would be out of my budget. Clarification will stop the inner magpie.

  • Ask Hippy, he knows these things.

  • ^ I thought we were still talking about sex?
    He still is, no?

  • What's the price of wired powertap wheel?

Fo hunnerd fiddy seems about what they sell for on ebay.

  • He still is, no?

*creates mental image of a penguin occasionally checking it's heartrate during sex.

    :-s

  • I've just worked out the problem with my trainer.
User error. Put the non turbo wheel in. That lined up properly, with no rub on the rear mech. What's that I see? Oh. Less turns needed to clamp wheel.
    Take wheel out.
Look at turbo wheel skewer, notice it's "done up" too much. Loosen. Reclamp in turbo.
    Success.

Bibs have split at the front seam though.
Cock popping out. Uncomfortable. Session over.

    Grn.

    .

  • Turbo is next to bed now. Sex then turbo or turbo then sex? #firstworldproblem

  • How about having sex while on the turbo?

  • I'm not that bendy. Someone else wanna step in?

  • Sex then turbo or turbo then sex?

The latter, always as well to make sure it still works after a training session.

  • "It" being the bike, right?

  • "It" must be one of these:

  • Note, that "It" can be used in two different way.

  • I shouldn't need the turbo until 2013 as my goal is 635 miles by the end of the year, on the road.

    Nice!

  • Anyone got any good suggestions for videos to watch? I'm currently going through ironman videos on YouTube which are an hour long and work quite nicely

  • Tabata intervals:

    • How many times a week?
    • How many sets?
    • I don't know my VO2 max power - is 2 x FTP a reasonable approximation?
    • If you're sick a little, should you carry on?
    • What's with the full body shakes?
  • You are very sick, it's why you are contemplating tanbata protocol indoors on a hot sunny day.

You are doing it right if you pass out and have convulsions, minor shakes don't count.

  • What's the goal?

I reckon any more than 2 times a week would be too many.

Usually I do 2 sets of 8, 15 seconds full on (so sprinting basically), with 15 seconds easy in between. I've not yet vomited but am always wobbly afterwards.

I only do them in race season.

Winning, because it was during office hours, on the office wattbike...

  • hope you are not working next saturday

  • What's the goal?

I'm bored of 2x20s, and wanted something that took less time, but still contribute to 1 hour sustained efforts.

I did 3x8 20 off 10 yesterday, but the 3rd set felt like a set too far, and I couldn't complete it. It feels like I could knock out 2 a week without contributing to fatigue too much.

I'll probably only do 1 a week if I'm doing any running speed work - or I may do running tabata intervals for teh lulz & to see how sick I can actually make myself.

  • We'll be there and we'll be square.
