  • just did it in me garage.

  • Ah lucky fucker

  • CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNT!

Just scratched the shit out of my nitto noodles (yes, even the bit that will show) whilst impatiently 'trying them on' my VO Grand Cru. Great start to a short career in bike assembly.

  • Joe the Gangsta looks so ill. Respect.

  • at risk of being the token weight weenie, hammerite is a fucking heavy, nasty, cheap paint that i wouldn't let within reach of any bike let alone a bmw. you may regret your hasty decision when you realise it'll be the mother of all khaants to remove. that looks like the extra heavy duty chalkboard or bbq finish or whatever they call it? one step up from sloshing on some gaff paint with a brush imo.

  • What forks are those on the BMW?

  • New shorter 17 degree stem, second bottle cage, fiddling with saddle height and bar angle.

Took it for a quick 30km this morning and it felt GREAT.

I know, shit photo and spacers gonna space, etc. I'm waiting on the fit session to get a final bar height.

  • Couple of spacers on top and the stem flipped and you'd have the exact same position but more aesthetically pleasing.

The bike in general looks great though, the bottle cage and saddle bag don't detract from that at all.

  • Or just slam the damn thing, it's barely that low.

yeah i know about hammerite, its absolute shite. this is actually just primer and it isnt too heavy duty but that doesn't matter as the frame will be getting blasted when i can be arsed.

    cheers!

the OG brooklyn forks, look a little weird in this picture.

  • just wanted to see how neat you got it. dog fang are plastic so cause less noise if they rub??

Plastic because thats the cheapest, and lightest way of doing it. The material dosent need to be that strong because of the design.

I have one of these for the fatbikes 1x10 drivechain.

Just need to replace the driveside BB spacer with it.

  • Impulse buy... always wanted a Witcomb since they were my first LBS ever in London... was cheap... BOOM!

    Anyone has a sandblasting machine?

  • Rat-bike?

You'll need to check, but if the pitting is very deep then it'll probably have to be filled otherwise it will be visible through the paint.

  • any more pictures of the witcomb?

I have not though of it really since it was a impulse buy... My first thought would be to refurbish it. Now the pitting matter will of course dictate was can and cannot be done. I should pick-up the frame tomorow and should know more then.

I hope the frame is sound enough, I wouldn't want a rat witcomb, it feels wrong...

  • any more pictures of the witcomb?

    voila...

That is the detail that I liked the most when I "impulse clicked"

  • Looks lovely, good luck with the resto, keep us posted!

I really hate rising stems aesthetically, especially on classic geo frames. Tomorrow I'm gonna drop it 0.5cm so that thin spacer is on top which should put me in about the position I want.

  • Fair enough. I really hate stems with drop at the top of a spacer stack aesthetically, but it's your bike, and it will look loads better with a spacer on top anyway. Have you tried the flipped stem, just once, to make sure it's really that bad though?

Obviously aesthetics is all moot compared to comfort and riding position anyway - everywhere but here and the porn thread anyway.

  • just man up and slam it.

  • ^putting a Jag stem on the GT then?

Removed a spacer every couple of days, till there's no more.

    Then cut that steerer.
