I have never really had any issues working for various a large architectural firms. Short sleeves are normally worn. Get some funny looks, and toung in cheek comments from time to time, but thats about it.
I have noticed recently that I'm not being sent to meetings abroad as much as I used to.... I have a feeling this may be linked to growing tattoos on my arms.
I would also never consider going to an interview without covering up my arms.
It's not really a major issue, but you'd be supprised how narrow minded a lot of people still are.
