I'm not sure what the "business world" means. But I run a business and it really isn't an issue for me, the people who work for me or the people I come into contact with on a daily basis. Maybe I'm being naive (although I've been tattooed for 30 years and worked for nearly as long), but I don't come across it as a problem.
I currently work for one of the biggest AEC companies worldwide, and grew up in the far east which gave me an appreciation of their culture and way of doing things.
If I decided to stay in this industry, I don't think walking into a meeting, say in Japan, with visible tattoos, would be ideal. Well, I don't think it would happen.
Of course everyone has a different opinion and different experiences of the matter, I'm not sure why you are debating it. Tattoos are a very personal thing in many ways.
If I found myself happy working in an industry where I thought unconcealable tattoos would not affect my future dealings in any way then I would progress to my forearms..... What business is it that you're in?
