  • I can recommend the transition trans am!

I've made a couple of changes since I last posted in this thread....I was having trouble getting it as 'fast' as I thought it should be I've decided that a few bits needed upgrading, and the riding position was too upright....first off, I flipped the stem, which is a +6 degree item, so that dropped the front a bit. I then stuck some on one fleegle pro bars on (I know they are white, but they were a fiver cheaper... You'd pick it up from the street, right? :0) ). These both make me lean forward a lot more. I have also fitted a used set of xtr m-960 cranks, which bring the weight of the whole bike down to about 30lb.... I'll weigh it when I get a chance. The difference is staggering. I can now maintain about 17-19 mph on the flat off road, and over 20mph on it, with the kind of input I'm used to on my ti 26er. I'm just trying to decide on some tyres that I'll be happy with, then I can put my new Easton haven lightweight wheelset on... I should fly then! Don't judge it on the apparent attempt at colour coordinating... It's just thrown together to get my riding position right. I've also added some old school profile bar ends, with a bit of a yip at the end, so that I can get right over the front when going quick. The handling is sharper, and it has totally transformed it. I was almost thinking that I had made the wrong choice, but my head is happier, now I have dialled it in.
