Depending on the size of hills you are riding wil effect the ratio. As a rough guide I use around 61 or 58 will which should get you up a lot of the hills in the Lake District. 44 x 20 , 44 x 18. These are the ratios I used to tour in and around the Lake District in what passed for our summer!
