that thing is amazing! cant wait to see it bagged up.

Your next thread will definitely have to be about training & preparation for the Tour Divide. Do you have any test rides to try everything out yet? Something like the off road LeJog perhaps?
You could test everything out, but without the added worry of bear attack ;-)

That is a serious bike, looks ace. Bet your itching for a ride.

Nice1, Scott.
Excited about seeing your beautiful beast bagged-up and ready for action...

sweet as.

Scott, this is tremendous, I hope you're thrilled. It's an expertly thought out project, executed wonderfully. It may not win everyone's beauty pageant but it is nonetheless a thing of beauty. Anyone with a real understanding and appreciation of bikes is bound to admire it and the knowledge/skill/conviction that has enabled. That applies to Mr English as well.
Most of all I'm excited about seeing it liberally festooned with BRP luggage, preferably caked in mud in some far-flung wilderness. I expect the bags will really be the icing on the cake and fantastic advert for you. It sounds as though you'll be having some serious adventures on it, good luck.

The finish really does it justice. Love it.
Have you considered Bebops as a free float pedal system? The cleats are not as walkable as they could be. But everything is metal, and they arent made by a mean and nasty company.

• #310
if this is gonna hit the Divide, are speedplays as good at shredding muck/snow/shit etc
as times or spd's? -
• #311
I assume the frogs are self cleaning. The cleat is too open to collect anything, and the way it engages cleans the pedal.
-
• #312
My Bebops always required a wiggle once engaged to clean them, when used in sticky snow conditions. But they offer more comfort than a small spd IMHO.

Functional AND pornworthy...........
Good job all round. :0)

They're like most products in that a lot of people seem to swear by them off road and say how well they shed mud, and plenty don't like them for various reasons too.
@smallfurry....the walkable cleat is a big thing for me, as there will no doubt be a lot of walking...for me, on the divide. ;] -

Cheers guys! I can't wait to start riding it...unfortunately i'll have to wait until almost March to get it as it's needed for something first by Rob. ;]
The front triangle, and whole front end is coming to me in a couple of weeks so I can make the bags, then they'll go back to Rob...then when he's done, the whole thing will finally come back to me for good. :] -

I don't have anything specific planned yet...but i'd like to get it back up to Scotland to try it out off road on familiar territory.
My next project once the bike and bags are complete and in my hands is to start planning all my pther kit and testing that out. -

love the detail!
why did you opt for a wishbone stay? looks great, just wondering...
I've always loved wishbone stays. I just think they look neater than anything else out there...and it works beautifully with Robs detachable rear triangle design too.

That's settled it then. West Highland Way Double it is ;-)
-
• #319
Ok...well let me know when you plan to do it and I might tag along. ;]
-
• #320
I did it South to North about 11 years ago. I'm never walking that stretch alongside Loch Lomond again :-(
Ever!
Let alone twice!!

• #321
I should do the whole SDW really ( being a soft Southerner ) I've only done it in small bits before.
At least it's all rideable :-)
-
• #322
SDW seems to be a typical route for a lot of divide riders training plans. :]
-
• #323
Possibly due to the unrelenting monotony of it? The current challenge is the triple isn't it?
Double isn't difficult enough for some people.
-
• #324
I'm not one of those people.
-
• #325
Well don't look at me! :]
Ok, thanks!
