The problem with the knobblies is that they have a very small contact patches on ice so you will be nursing it around when that comes.
What you want is a medium between slicks and knobs. Preferebly slick in the middle of the tyre and knobs on the sides. Schwalbe CX Comp, Hurricane and maybe SmartSam would be better than massively knobbed tyres. Ofcourse there are other tyres but you get the idea.
