maybe in somekind of worst case scenario, but from my experience they got way more grip. They use knobblies in mud too and mud is about the same as snow in filling up the grooves I think.

I'm pretty sure you'd be better off by swapping your tires, back to front.
More thread = more grip = front. ... I'm guessing.
